Foot Tracks on Sand

Offline copy: Athens

Most of the day initially on transfer was on the ferry, then waiting in some insane traffic, so not a lot to report.

We arrived at hotel * around 7 pm so our options were a bit limited for reservations. Luckily, the hotel has a rooftop restaurant that faces the acropolis lit up at night. Pretty impressive to be honest. That’s even before you have the food. The degustation menu here is incredible. A combination of great wines, and an Osso buco that could be the best I’ve ever had. The menu is constantly changing as well.

Day 2:

We spent much of the next morning touring the acropolis and museum, which if you are into mythology, is a must see. The museum archives all of the most important events, sculpture, and has glass floors so you can see the ruins of the old city beneath. It also very much points out all of the stolen art now possessed by the British, French, and Americans. The quantity of stolen goods was honestly sickening and the British especially should be ashamed that they are claiming ownership.

The old town around the acropolis is complete eye candy of shops, restaurants, galleries, yet still possess an old world feel that is truly impressive. We wandered around to a few restaurants for small bites. Everyone said to skip Athens, but we didn’t have enough time to truly experience Athens.

We had some amazing Greek steeed food for lunch , and strolled the lanes beneath the acropolis having apps and wine. The museum is just as fabulous as the acropolis itself however, so use that pass!
